LAMPLIGHT: ABC Scripture Songs
When I started teaching my daughters the alphabet, I wanted to have a memory verse to go along with our letter of the week. Knowing my family memorizes best to music, I recorded melodies on my phone for the verses each week. Over the next few months, I heard my kids singing those melodies everywhere we went. I decided to record the songs for real so we didn’t have to keep listening to the (fairly clunky) voice memos on my phone.
The Lamplight Album has 26 scripture verse songs from all over the Old and New Testaments with melodies that are simple and memorable. My goal was to create music that was compelling to both kids and adults - because let’s be real, whenever kids are listening, adults are too. And, apart from the more obscure letters of the alphabet (lookin’ at you, Q), each verse song starts with the corresponding letter of the alphabet to help with rapid recall. The lyrics come from the NIV, Amplified and ESV translations with a few phrases built from a composite of translations.
